4 Ingredient Crusty Dinner Roll Recipe!

Servings 12 Rolls
Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Rise Time 2 hours 30 minutes
Total Time 3 hours 20 minutes


  • 2 ½ Cups All purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ Tsp Instant Yeast
  • 1 ½ Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Cup Warm Water
  • 1 Egg (optional)


  • In a bowl, combine all purpose flour, instant yeast, sugar and a pinch of salt.
  • Add in warm water, and mix with a spatula till a shaggy dough forms.
  • Transfer to a flat surface and knead until the dough comes together and is no longer sticky (about 5 min). Place in an oiled bowl, cover and allow to rise for 1-2 hours, until doubled or tripled in size.
  • Once tripled, transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Divide into 12 pieces and roll each piece into a tight ball. (You can do this by flattening the piece of dough then pulling all the edged to the centre and bunching the bottom till tight)
  • Place on a parchment lined baking sheet that is dusted with flour. Cover again and allow to rise for another 30-40 minutes, until doubled in size.
  • Once doubled, brush the tops with egg wash or water, and score the top of each roll (cut a line into it).
  • Bake at 400℉ for about 20 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool and enjoy!!!
