Ingredients
For the Dough
- 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1½ teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter Melted
- 2¼ teaspoon Instant Yeast
- 1⅔ cup Warm Water
For the Glaze
- 1 tablespoon Flour
- ½ cup Water
- ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Add warm water and melted butter, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer to a flat surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth. Divide into two equal parts and shape each into a ball.
- Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
- While dough rises, prepare glaze by combining flour, water, and baking soda in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (3-4 minutes). Set aside to cool.
- Place one dough ball on parchment paper and flatten into an oval shape. Use fingers to create deep indentations across the surface.
- Brush generously with glaze and optionally sprinkle with sesame seeds. Transfer parchment to baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 440°F (227°C). Uncover and bake for 18 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on baking sheet for 30 minutes before slicing.
